Why Axel?

Why not? He's an awesome character. And a slightly underappreciated one at the moment. Maybe I'll change my mind on that once I start to see more Axel shrines on the net.

My own personal reasons are these. When I played KH:CoM, I was quite fond of the Organization - They seemed to be one of the more formidable opponents, with different mysterious ways. Axel in particular stood out from the rest with me - I loved the way he attacked, even though I'm not much of a fire-type attacker myself. His fire chakrams were a unique weapon, much better than the usual 'flaming swords' and 'flamethrower guns' that most games seem to have. He continued to impress me all the way through the game, and I was relieved he survived the end.
When Kingdom Hearts II came onto the scene, I was even more excited - A chance to see him in full 3D. I played the game in Japanese, and never have I found a seiyuu or voice actor to be more fitting to a character. Axel quickly became my all time fave videogame character, beating Sora in that aspect. When he went, if anything, I was really hoping by some miracle he would come back at the end of the game, that scene brang me to tears (I really, really would have preferred one of the good guys went for a change - That was the game's downfall to me). But alas, he didn't. I'm still hoping that the next game they create, they somehow get Axel back (Maybe in his true form?) but we'll just have to wait and see.
